Sabaton just announced that BABYMETAL will accompany them for the European leg of The Tour to End All Tours, beginning in April 2023. They kick things off in the United Kingdom on April 14. BABYMETAL and Lordi will support Sabaton as they make their way across Europe.
If you don't know who Sabaton is, please take a look at our concert report here. We just saw them in the San Francisco Bay Area just a few weeks ago and the band is still making its way to the east coast of America. They'll be playing in Pittsburgh, PA on 10/17 (today) and have a few more shows after that in Philadelphia, Boston, Montreal, and New York.
While BABYMETAL's return was rumored after last week's announcement regarding a new album in 2023, nothing was revealed when it came to international performances. Part of BABYMETAL's appeal is not just the fact they'll shred your face off, but also their frenetic dancing. The trio of girls are killers on the stage and their idol roots have served them well over the years. What started as a bit of a joke with the song Doki Doki Morning evolved into a worldwide phenomenon.
BABYMETAL's upcoming album is titled "The Other One," as a play on their concept "The One." "The Other One" will explore alternate realities and will feature ten songs. Five of those songs will be released as singles, one per month, until the album's full release. The first single's release will be sometime this month. For those of you in Japan, you'll have the opportunity to also see BABYMETAL live at the Makuhari Messe in Tokyo on 1/28/23 and 1/29/23.
This is the first time BABYMETAL returns to the international stage in three years. We at The-O Network last saw them in America in Fall 2019 at Los Angeles' The Forum for their sold-out Metal Galaxy tour. That was their biggest stateside show to date, and it did not disappoint.
Sabaton's tour will begin in Leeds, England, on 4/14/23. They'll be stopping by London, Cardiff, and Glasgow, before jumping over to the European mainland. France, Germany, Luxembourg, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Estonia, and Finland will also have stops. The tour concludes in Kuopio, Finland, on 5/20/23.
I'm a little sad that we didn't get them in America, but I'm glad they're back period. Japan just opened up to tourism last week, and Japanese bands and musical acts are making their way back onto the world stage. This is the perfect time for a return, and with any hope, we'll be seeing them back in America soon.
