New Ghost in the Shell Scheduled for July 2026; New Trailer and Music Team Revealed

In a surprise announcement coinciding with the opening of the "Ghost and the Shell" exhibition at NODE Tokyo, the brand-new Ghost in the Shell TV anime series has been announced for a July 2026 premiere.

An all-star musical team to handle the series’ iconic soundscape. Leading the charge as musical director is Taisei Iwasaki (Belle, Blood Blockade Battlefront), who expressed his deep connection to Masamune Shirow’s original work. Joining him are multi-instrumentalist Ryo Konishi (Millennium Parade) and Boston-based composer Yuki Kanesaka (Dr. Stone).

Iwasaki described his vision for the project as "Sound Public Security Sector 9," suggesting we can expect a score as intricate and high-tech as the series itself. Kanesaka also teased an international production process, with recordings taking place everywhere from Nashville to Shanghai.

Fans can catch the first promotional video below and check out the new key visual currently on display at the Tokyo exhibition.
