Lovebites returns to California. I saw them last year at the Cafe du Nord in San Francisco but this time they have two shows in southern California.
The tour begins in New York on November 4 at the Gramercy Theatre and winds its way west with stops in Maryland, Ohio, Illinois, Kansas, and Texas, before finally reaching California. They'll be at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo on November 14.
Due to the upcoming Hiroyuki Sawano concert at the Peacock Theater on the 14th, my only option will be the final show at the Vermont Hollywood on November 15.
I'm actually picking them over another band I really like, RAISE A SUILEN, if only because I haven't had a chance to see Lovebites this year and I'm alrady two shows deep with RAS (and a third in December).
Lovebites is composed of vocalist Asami, dual guitarists Midori and Miyako, Haruna on drums, and bassist Fami, who replaced founding member Miho in 2022. Speaking of Miho, she just announced that she has joined a new band, Zilqy, who will be having their first live in December. Tickets for that one have proven hard to get due to it being a tiny 200-person venue and I've lost both lotteries.
If you've never listened to Lovebites before, you can be assured they do something extremely well: power metal, and super speedy power metal at that.
Their most recent album, Judgement Day, was released in 2023. In the meantime they have released a second EP, the titular Lovebites EP II, and two live albums titled Memorial for the Warrior Souls, and earlier this year, No More Tragedy.
VIP packages are available and will include a post-show photo with the band, an autographed poster, laminate, and early entry to the venue.
The US tour will have Los Angeles' own Edge of Paradise as support. Formed in 2011, the quintet is fronted by vocalist Margarita Monet accompanied by guitarists Dave Bates and David Ruiz, drummer Jamie Moreno, and bassist Kenny Lockwood. Edge of Paradise released their sixth studio album, Prophecy, in march of this year. Edge of Paradise is a good complement to Lovebites' speedy drumming with their own brand of symphonic and industrial metal.
For those of you in Japan, Lovebites will be back in Shibuya on November 23rd at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA.
They also have a big show planned at the Nippon Budokan in March so if you happen to be out there at that time, I strongly suggest you take some time to see them. They've even got international ticket sales [here] for those of you who don't have a Japanese phone number.
