The Arch Enemy Blood Dynasty Tour begins on April 14 in San Diego, CA, and winds its way north up the coast before traveling east and looping around towards the midwest. The final date will be May 18 in Milwaukee, GA.
Arch Enemy is a melodic death metal band hailing from Sweden, which, if you have paid attention to my tastes, fit perfectly. Their songs have been featured on Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and Lollipop Chainsaw. They will be supported by deathcore band Fit For an Autopsy, Danish death metal band BAEST, and metalcore band Thrown Into Exile, who also happens to hail from Los Angeles.
Arch Enemy's most recent album, Blood Dynasty, was released just a few weeks ago on March 28. A number of the songs were released as singles throughout 2024 with the final single, "A Million Suns," being officially released as of the beginning of this month.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the band. Frontwoman Alissa White-Gluz joined in 2014 so this marks her 11th year. The three longest-tenured members of Arch Enemy, founders Michael Amott and Daniel Erlandsson, along with bassist Sharlee D'Angelo, both count over 25 years in the band. Joey Concepcion replaced second guitarist Jeff Loomis in 2023. This also marks the 11th year of my car having been stolen while I saw Arch Enemy at the Regency Ballroom. Metal as fuck. Here's hoping it doesn't happen again.
On a whole, I have been listening to Arch Enemy since 2003 after seeing "We Will Rise" on MTV (yes, back when MTV still played music).
Visitors of The-O Network may also recognize Alissa White-Gluz's voice from 2022 first-person shooter Metal Hellsinger on the song "Stygia." One of the greatest tracks from the game, White-Gluz performed at Germany's Gamescom convention alongside Matt Heafy of Trivium, Dennis Lyxzen of Refused, James Dorton (currently of Ne Obliviscaris and many others), and Mikael Stanne of Dark Tranquility, all of who were also featured on tracks from the game. Side note: you may also recognize Refused as Johnny Silverhand's in-game band Samurai from Cyberpunk 2077 and they will be touring America beginning in March. Sadly I will be unable to attend due to being in Japan at that time.
Alissa White-Gluz also collaborated with Babymetal for the song "Distortion." If you've gone to any of their concerts in the last few years, you've probably seen it live.
