Sad graduation announcement from the Cute Hololive Dragon Kiryu Coco

On June 8, 2021, the Vtubers community was hit with a big announcement by the famous Hololive Vtuber Kiryu Coco herself which came out of nowhere. Coco announced on a live stream that was just shy of 12 minutes and titled "Super important announcement from Coco."

Coco dropped the news to her fans that she would be leaving Hololive, but she would continue her activities till July 1 at 8 pm JST/4 am PST/1 am EST, on which date she would have her last stream. She avoided saying anything more on the matter during the stream but did say that many things led to her leaving but that she won't talk about them. She understands her fans wanted answers, but those answers won't be coming from her.

Instead of staying on the subject of why she was leaving, she just gave information about her last stream. Still, one thing was very obvious to the fans her voice was cracking and almost gone, and she kept muting her microphone as if she was composing herself or confirming what she would and wouldn't say on stream. The chat exploded with messages such as "Why?", "Prank?", "Please No" and others that were in shock due to the announcement. She added that her channel would remain up and her videos would not go away but that the membership will go away due to her personal request. All while the banner on screen said not to speak of her graduation on other Hololive member's streams if they don't bring it up, she did say that all the members are aware of her leaving.

Like any famous Vtuber news, many came up with their hypothesis as to why Coco was leaving. Some ranged from common sense as she wants to take a break or shift career or focus on personal life to the extreme conspiracies with so many holes they can sink ships, such as Hololive found out she was pregnant or has a terminal illness since most fans of idols have come to know that the word "Graduation" can [emphasis on 'Can'] be synonyms with the words such as quitting, fired, or banned. These theories began to spread, and since no one from Hololive has come out to clear up why Coco is graduating, fans will continue to develop more.

Other fans accepted the fact that they won't get an explanation from either Hololive or Coco herself and opted to focus all their energy into viewing all her remaining streams and show her support thru messages in the form of super chats, fan art, reaction videos, Twitter messages, and yes even her famous Reddit shitpost reviews. Since we know that Coco loves her Reddit shitpost memes, it's fitting that the Reddit forum was filled with memes made to cheer her up and encourage her. Even a video made by Rey Yuma titled "Thank you Kiryu Coco" that Coco herself used in her last 'Reddit Shitpost Review" Stream.

Also, many Hololive vtubers and Vshojo Vtubers took to Twitter to share their thoughts and add some encouraging words for Coco. Everyone seemed to be on the same page by saying that they support her on her decision and hope to make more memories with her in the time that she has left. They also reminded people that "Graduation" doesn't always mean the end and root for her in any "incarnations" that she might have in the future. But in the meantime, make sure to tune in on July 1 at 8 pm JST/4 am PST/1 am EST.
