GKIDS announced late last year that they had picked up the rights for the movie "Pompo the Cinephile." The original Japanese version was released last June and the English Blu-Ray release earlier this year. Only now does it make its way to the American big screen.
This will be one of those one-night-only Fathom Events. Technically two nights since it's one night for each language.

Pompo, the movie's namesake, is a producer in "Nyallywood," and is known for pumping out B-movies. One day she selects her assistant, Gene, to be the director of her next movie. This is a tale about a first-time director, his cast, and the many trials and tribulations that encompass the creation of a movie.
The director, Takayuki Hirao, has previously helmed work including the "God Eater" anime, "Futakoi Alternative," and "Kara no Kyoukai: Paradox Spiral." The animation studio, CLAP, has worked on the LIPxLIP movie "Kono Sekai no Tanoshimikata," the music video for the song "Mado wo Akete," and the anime short "Shibuya Vernacular." They're also the studio for the upcoming movie "Natsu e no Tunnel, Sayonara no Deguchi" (The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes), which will be released later this year.
"Pompo the Cinephile" is a movie based on a manga of the same name. The manga, written by Shogo Sugitani, was first launched in 2017 and is still ongoing. The English language version was picked up by Seven Seas.
"Pompo the Cinephile" will have an extended showing in select theaters in select areas starting on 4/29/22. Areas include Phoenix, AZ, the San Francisco Bay Area, southern California, Florida, and many others.
