Sega is planning both a TV drama and manga version of Kurohyou: Ryu ga Gotoku Shinsho to coincide with the game’s release. Both the drama and manga will feature original stories involving Tatsuya Ukyo, the game’s protagonist. While the manga will center on the Dragon Heat tournament, one of the events in the game, not much else has been revealed about either project. The drama will begin airing on October 5 and manga will debut in Weekly Young Magazine issue 42, which will hit stands September 18. More after the jump.
The drama will star Takumi Saito as Tatsuya and Hideo Ishiguro and Takuya Ishida, whose roles have not been revealed yet. The actors all have a history in the industry, seen in Saito’s work in 20th Century Boys, Ishida’s voiceover work in The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, and Iwaki’s best actor award at the Yokohama Film Festival. Yukai Asada will draw the manga.
Kurohyou: Ryu ga Gotoku Shinsho is the upcoming Playstation Portable spin-off of Sega’s popular series, Yakuza. The series revolves around Kazuma Kiryu, who is a prominent member of the Dojima yakuza, or Japanese gangster family. They usually portray various aspects of yakuza lifestyle, whether it be serious dealings with a family’s honor or recreational activities like visiting hostess clubs.Fans should stay tuned to see if either will feature the actors cooking ramen or serving ice cream. Sadly, this version of Tatsuya seems slightly less menacing than either his manga or game counterpart.
