May'n Rhythm Tank!! BD Review

The indoor arena, Nippon Budokan, is one of the most famous venues at which a musician can perform in Japan, and pop singer May'n has performed there solo -- twice. Her second concert was held on March 6, 2011 with a home release on Blu-ray titled May'n Special Concert BD RHYTHM TANK!! at Nippon Budokan on November 2nd the same year.

May’n If you (CD/DVD) Review

If you are reading this then you probably like May’n, If you are wondering who May’n is, then keep reading. If you are wondering why I am saying If you a lot, it is because that is the title of May’n’s second album and this is the review for If you. The second album comes in a CD/DVD pack and is distributed by Victor Entertainment Inc. Japan. It has a lovely picture of May’n on both sides of the case, the CD has 12 tracks and the DVD has three music videos along with a bonus short trailer of the game Valkyria Chronicles 3: Unrecorded Chronicles which features May’n's “もしも君が願うのなら”(MOSHIMO KIMI GA NEGAU NO NARA).

May'n New Album and World Tour Announcement

Enews maynarlier this week, the official homepage for Japanese singer May'n announced she will be releasing her third full album titled Heat on March 21, 2012. The album will include the song "Scarlet Ballet" which was used as the OP (opening theme song) for the anime adaptation of Aria the Scarlet Ammo (Hidan no Aria), "Brain Diver" used in anime Phi Brain: Puzzle of God and a new song, "Heat of the Moment".

Her site also announced that she will be going on a world tour later this year titled "Rock Your Beats" though no countries have been specified yet. We will update as more information is released.

May'n made her first American performance back in 2010 at Anime Expo held in Los Angeles.

Promo videos for some of the songs on album included inside.

Sekiranun Graffiti CD Review

Sekiranun Graffiti is the second American musical release which featured the virtual idol, Hatsune Miku after the first album, Supercell Feat. Hatsune Miku, topped the iTunes chart back in May 2011. Sony Music smartly chose to release Sekiranun Graffiti simultaneously in Japan and in the US in late August 2011 to to the delight of Miku fans. Sekiranun Graffiti has a total of 5 tracks (2 songs, 1 remix, and 2 instrumental) making it more than just a single, but falling short of a full album, thus categorized as an extended play (EP). The EP is a collaboration project between Supercell member Ryo and producer Dixie Flatline.

Korean Vocaloid3's SeeU!

As part of the birthday celebration of the highly popular Vocaloid Hatsune Miku, the Vocaloid 3 Korean Mascot was revealed ealier this week. Banking on the ever popular moe style, SeeU is a cat girl illustrated by Kkuem that just oozes adorableness. I know a lot of people love Hatsune Miku, but the cat ears and flowing hair won me over at a glance. She's voiced by Kim Tahi (Dahee), a super cute singer part of the up and coming K-pop group GLAM which has yet to debut.

American Fan Song in Hatsune Miku Arcade

Video game maker Sega had ran a contest for fans to submit their own songs for the popular rhythm arcade game, Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Arcade. One of the songs selected, Hanamai Tsukuyomi Tan (花舞月詠譚), was written by our own resident columnist and anime singer Yukie Dong with production done by the talented Hoskey. Congratulations to them both!

The song is freely available to download from Sega's own page.

Sakura-Con 2011 was held from April 6-8 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle, Washington.

Starting from July 2nd, "FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST the Movie: The Sacred Star of Milos" will have its nationwide release in Japan, announcing that the theme song for the movie will be provided by L'Arc-en-Ciel.

For L'Arc-en-Ciel, this will be their third time to contribute a theme song for FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST. Their song "READY STEADY GO" had been the opening theme song for the smash-hit TV animation series "FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST" in 2004, and "Link" was the theme song for the "FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa" in 2005.

In preparation to become active overseas, a popular idol group AKB48 is opening their profile page on Myspace in order to reach out to the fans around the world and send out their information.

Myspace Japan KK (Shibuya, Tokyo) which manages the music entertainment SNS “Myspace” in Japan, in cooperation of Sync Music Japan, a project organized by Japan Association of Music Enterprises (JAME), Music Publishers Association of Japan (MPAJ), and the Federation of Music Producers Japan (FMPJ) in order to expand Japanese music market to a global scale, will introduce AKB48’s official profile page to the whole world today.

Japanese super-idol group, AKB48, breaks records by surpassing 560,000 sales of its 18th single on the first day alone. This is the most sales the group has been able to amass on a single on the first day and will mark this single as the third to surpass half a million in its first week. The single, titled "Beginner," was released on October 27 and an estimated 1,030,000 copies of the single were shipped out to stores in preparation for Beginner's release.
