Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is releasing in a week and in case you missed it there is a playable demo on the PlayStation network to experience a vertical slice of the game before it's release on February 29.

As of writing this article the demo for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has received a sizeable update including visual enhancements, a new playable area and more. Here is an overview from Square Enix.

“Dawn of a New Era in Junon” is now available as a free update to the existing demo. In this update, players will witness Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Aerith, and Red XIII emerging into the outskirts of Junon—a fortified stronghold complete with an underwater reactor. The special preview, designed specifically for the demo, offers a glimpse of the massive in-game world that players can freely explore.

During this preview, players can:

  • Sniff out treasures with the help of a trusty chocobo steed.
  • Craft valuable items using the new Item Transmuter.
  • Bravely embark on thrilling Combat Assignment missions.

Now is the perfect time to download the two-part demo in preparation for the worldwide release of FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH. Completing the first part, titled “Fall of a Hero in Nibelheim,” rewards players with the Kupo Charm and Survival Set demo incentives. Additionally, players have the option to skip the same section in the full game upon release, allowing them to get an early start on their adventure. Alternatively, players can choose to experience the section all over again.

While save data from the “Dawn of a New Era in Junon” section cannot be carried over to the full game due to content alterations for a more compact experience, fans and newcomers alike can explore new forms of gameplay, including powerful synergy attacks and character bonds expressed through combat.

Furthermore, an automatically downloaded demo patch addresses minor graphical fixes and other adjustments.
