We're only a few weeks away from something I've been waiting for: a live-streamed Macross Frontier concert. As we rapidly approach the Macross franchise's 40th anniversary, this seems like a fitting event to have. I expect even bigger and better things the closer we get to that milestone.
It's been quite a while since Macross Frontier came out (more than a decade at this point) and it, along with Macross Delta, show no signs of cooling off. Frontier was also the reason why I started going to Anime Expo back in 2010. I'd be lying if I said Macross hasn't been a big part of my life.
Macross Frontier features the dual songstresses Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee, portrayed by May'n and Megumi Nakajima respectively. The project's official title is "Macross F Galaxy Tour 2021 'REVENGE'" and is presented by Sankyo. The concerts will officially take place on November 9 and 10th at the Makuhari Event Hall in Japan. It will be streamed to theaters across Japan and on November 10th, across the world.
The latest Frontier movie, titled "Macross Frontier: Tokino Meikyu" was released on 10/8/21. The movie's theme song of the same name will be released on 11/10/21, the same day as the REVENGE concert's livestream.
Livestream tickets can be purchased at Tokyo Otaku Mode along with other goodies including a pen light, clothing, zipper pouch, and even some themed face masks. I'm a little tempted to buy the masks but also know I'll be unlikely to use them over more disposable (and not-so-limited) ones.
Tickets are $43 each as of press time. The show starts on 11/10/21 at 1900 hours JST (0500 EST/0200 PST). Replay will be available for roughly twenty-four hours (11/11/21 0000 hours through 2359 hours JST).
As a night owl, I'll be watching it live, and I hope you'll join me.
