So, straight off, I will shill this anime. I've been reading the manga of 2.5D Seduction for years at this point, ever since chapter one.

Lo and behold, while I was back in Akihabara back in March, I see some ads for some new prize figure goodies for 2.5D Seduction set to come out in July. Said ads also said that the anime would be airing during that same time period.

Fast forward to now and we're getting the North American premiere at Anime Expo! The premiere takes place on July 4 in room 403AB at 9PM and is presented by HIDIVE. All of the subsequent episodes will be simulcast.

2.5D Seduction is, at its core, a cosplay romcom, kind of like one of my other favorites, Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru/My Dress-Up Darling. You may have heard of the phrase "2D will not betray you" and our protagonist Okumura takes that to heart. Well, that is, until he runs across the spitting image of his waifu, Lilliel. Lilliel is the only one who can breach his defenses. There's a bit of conflict where he has to rectify how Lilliel is still not real, but the girl cosplaying her, Ririsa, is. Naturally there are a number of other cosplaying friends who join in the fun. Guided by their teacher, secretly a god-like level cosplayer, the group learns more than a thing or two about cosplay, photography, events, and everything inbetween.

2.5D Seduction is written by Yu Hashimoto with the animated version undertaken by JC Staff.

It's hard to believe that it's been almost six years since the manga began. I've already blocked my time off to see the premiere and I hope you'll give it a shot too.

On a side note, 2.5D Seduction currently has a small little section at K-Books in Akiba's Radio Kaikan building but I'm hoping it expands with the launch of the anime.
