At long last Final Fantasy VII Remake finally has a release date. It will launch worldwide on March 3rd, 2020. During the Final Fantasy VII: A Symphonic Reunion orchestra concert in Los Angeles, Square Enix unveiled a very short, but sweet new trailer.
In the trailer we get to see more footage from the Midgar section of the game, specifically the AVALANCHE's bombing run. The battle against the guard scorpion is shown, with Cloud and Barret both using some of their signature limit breaks. There is also a short fight scene with various Shinra defence forces.
Here is a short summary of the game via Square Enix:
Rebuilding and expanding upon the legendary RPG for today, FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE tells the story of a world fallen under the control of the Shinra Electric Power Company, a shadowy corporation controlling the planet's very life force as mako energy. In the sprawling city of Midgar, an anti-Shinra organization calling themselves Avalanche have stepped up their resistance. Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra's elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to the group, unaware of the epic adventures that await him.
In addition to the release date, Square Enix has also revealed new key art featuring the antagonist Sephiroth, showing a burning Midgar skyline.
Currently we do not know if Final Fantasy VII Remake will be a multi-part series, but more information will be revealed tomorrow, during Square Enix's E3 live press conference. Final Fantasy VII Remake is being developed exclusively for PlayStation 4.
