It's been a long while, since new information on Final Fantasy VII Remake has even seen the light of day. During today's PlayStation State of Play stream, Square Enix showed a new teaser trailer for the highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake.
The game engine and UI look to have gotten a slight update since they last showed off the game at PlayStation Experience 2015, with lots of pretty lighting and colorful effects. The trailer features mainly cloud and Aeris. In one scene we see Aeris giving a flower to Cloud, just like in the original game.
The original producer of Final Fantasy VII, Yoshinari Kitase has posted a special message, via the PlayStation Blog:
"Finally…. the long awaited moment has come. Sorry to keep you all waiting so long! We hope you enjoyed the footage shown during State of Play.
It was quite short, but hopefully you enjoyed seeing Cloud and Aerith brought back to life with such realistic graphics. And oh my god! Did you notice he was there too…?
We are preparing to release more official information in June, but we wanted to try something new here on State of Play by showing you this special trailer as a taste of what’s to come."
Since Tetsuya Nomura has mostly wrapped up development with Kingdom Hearts III, he is now more involved in Final Fantasy VII Remake. In a recent tweet, Nomura states, "Most of the plans are already in place in the run up to launch, so please bear with us a little longer until we can release more information next month."
Final Fantasy VII Remake is currently in development exclusively for PlayStation 4. Its release date is currently TBA.
