We're about two weeks out from Crunchyroll Expo and they're not done with announcements. This is Crunchyroll's second time in San Jose and third event overall and they're setting the bar extremely high for conventions not only in California but across the United States.
The most recent announcement involves MAPPA and CyGames' hit undead idol anime Zombie Land Saga. Voice actresses Kaede Hondo (voice of Sakura Minamoto) and Asami Tano (voice of Saki Nikaidou, or to you Love Livers she's the voice of Saint Snow's Sarah Kazuno), composer Yasuharu Takanashi, and MAPPA CEO Manabu Otsuka will be at the convention. Zombie Land Saga will have a panel on Friday 8/30 at noon which recaps the series and lets the panel members share some insight into the show.
Shokugeki no Soma may have ended its manga run but CRX is bringing the heat back with a few guests most notably manga artist Shun Saeki and writer Yuto Tsukuda. Anime producer Noriko Dohi will also be on hand. They'll be on stage on Saturday 8/31 to talk about the upcoming fourth season which was announced in June. The fourth season, titled The Plate of God, will air beginning in October and picks up where the third left off in the battle for the Toutsuki Academy's core idealogies before assumably transitioning into the final major arc of the series. If they decide to run the anime to its manga end expect a fifth and possibly a sixth season in the future.
Mixed-media idol group 22/7 will participate in Crunchyroll Expo with members Kanae Shirosawa, Ruri Umino, and the meme queen herself, Sally Amaki, on hand. 22/7 is a long term project having started its development back in 2016 when over 10,000 applicants were filtered down to eight. The group has a variety show backed up by individual accounts on YouTube and Twitter for each of the characters. Sally Amaki is notable for having grown up in Los Angeles and being the representation of otaku dreams coming true. 22/7 has released three singles with a fourth later this year. The first episode of their anime will begin airing next January. They will participate in the opening kickoff party and will appear in panels (date and time TBA).
Crunchyroll Expo takes place in San Jose, CA at the San Jose Convention Center from 8/30-9/1. A pre-show kickoff takes place on 8/29. Please visit http://expo.crunchyroll.com/ to purchase tickets, check out the schedule, and find more information.
