One of the cool things about Japan is that they have lots of random pop-up shops and cafe collaborations. If you can think of a popular show or franchise, it's probably had a cafe. You'll find themed food, drinks, and desserts and all in all it's a lot of fun. The cafe itself will be decorated according to the franchise and there's usually videos, art, and items on display. You can also buy special goods that are generally not seen overseas minus resellers or your lucky friends who have gone to Japan and back.
Bushiroad has decided to pair with Little Tokyo's Cafe Dulce to bring a BanG Dream collaboration to America and it's possible that this year's Anime Expo would have had an in-person version. Collaboration cafes are not things that come to America very often so this is a very special treat.
Unfortunately because of COVID19 we don't get the whole collab treatment; we're limited to take-out food and drink. One thing that does help make up for that is the fact that buying an item set from the BanG Dream cafe includes an invite to a special Zoom online meeting session with none other that Aimi (Kasumi Toyama) and Ayasa Ito (Arisa Ichigaya). The call will be muted except for the special guests so it's more like a panel. The call will be on July 21 from 8PM through 845PM. There will be an interactive pop quiz as well as a bit of Q&A.
There are three sets you can buy:
1) The Regular Band Set - $15
Latte, donut, coaster + Zoom invite
2) The Special Collaboration Set - $35
Latte, donut, coaster, mug + Zoom invite
3) The Premium Collaboration Set - $75
Latte, donut, coaster, mug, t-shirt + Zoom invite. The latte will also feature art of the band you select. Bit of a shame you'll have to drink it and ruin the nice print.
There are packages for five bands available: Poppin' Party, Afterglow, Pastel*Palletes, Roselia, and Hello, Happy World!
You're also able to buy lottery badge buttons for $5 each that are themed to each band separate from the above sets. Note that all of the items are branded with LA 2020 on it so that will make them very rare items. Being that COVID19 has locked down travel between the US and Japan there's going to be practically no way for Japanese fans to acquire these items directly.
You can pack a theoretical max of 500 people into a Zoom meeting so you'll be amongst a very select set of individuals. Being that Cafe Dulce is located in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, it's also more or less limited to people in Socal if you want to see it live. For those who are unable to make it to Socal there will be a delayed Youtube video on July 24 at 8PM.
Orders for sets are open between July 3 and July 10 (1159PM). Pickup for your purchases will be available from July 14 through July 21. The Zoom call will be on July 21. NOTE: Make sure to login to Zoom by 745PM or you'll be locked out!
