Back in 2008 there was an anime called Mnemosyne. It was a weird kind of anime full of blood, violence, and a little bit of ero, and was based off of a light novel of the same name. It wasn't the best anime but it did do one thing right and that's introducing me to a Japanese band called Galneryus who played both the OP and ED songs. In two weeks Galneryus is set to have their first American performance at a festival called ProgPower USA.
Anime Expo 2019 may not have had as many concerts as years past but what it did have was quality. Love Live's Aqours played to two sold-out crowds at The Novo on July 5th and 6th. The performances, titled "BRAND NEW WAVE," would leave concertgoers with memories for years to come and build upon Aqours' legacy in Los Angeles.

K-Pop group TWICE has released the highly anticipated music video for their latest song, "FANCY." The video has garnered roughly 40 million views in the span of 24 hours, breaking the group's previous 24 hour view record of 31.4 million views.

On January 20, 2019 JYP Entertainment introduced their newest girl group, ITZY with members Yuna, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, Lia, and Yeji. The group’s name is comes from the Korean word that means “is there."
The BLACKPINK 2019 WORLD TOUR with KIA [IN YOUR AREA], currently in Seoul is coming soon to North America, Europe and Australia. Making their way through Asia, the group will be visiting Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Taiwan in the next two months. Hyuna doesn’t disappoint live either, if this is how most of her live performances go she deserves a little more credit in the industry. It’s very easy with all the K-POP idols and groups coming to North America for good shows and artists to fly under the radar.
The performers for one of Japan’s most important New Year show, the 69th Kouhaku Uta Gassen has been announced. Kouhaku is an annual music show aired by the Japanese broadcasting company NHK on New Year's Eve. The performers are separated into two teams, red for the females, and white for the males. Only the most popular performers are invited to the show and at the end of the night, the audience votes on which team performed better.
Some of the highlights this year include South Korean pop group TWICE and pop group Little Glee Monster making their second appearances in a row, DAOKO making her first appearance who is best known for her music in the mobile game Dragalia Lost, and HYDE’s (L’Arc-en-Ciel, Vamps) first appearance teaming up with the legendary YOSHIKI. The idol group Aqours from the anime Love Live Sunshine!! and performers from the musical adaptation of the mobile game Touken Ranbu, will also be making a special appearance.
Japan's hard-rocking Band-Maid makes their return to the US in just a few more days. The foreign leg of the World Domination 2018 tour begins on November 9th in Los Angeles before heading up to San Francisco on the 10th. After that, it's off to Europe with stops in Helsinki, Amsterdam, London, Paris, Berlin, and finally Munich.
Japanese band SPYAIR will make their US debut next week. The band, first formed in 2005, grew rapidly in popularity before making their major label debut with Sony Music. They will start their tour at the Anime Weekend Atlanta (AWA) Convention before traveling westward and then across the world.
Last week, the Japanese band SCANDAL made their triumphant return to North America after a few long years. New York's Playstation Theater played host to their first showing in the US followed by performances in California, Mexico and Texas. We were able to catch the San Francisco show at the Regency Ballroom which marked the first time SCANDAL has returned to San Francisco in approximately a decade. The tour is titled "Special Thanks" and also coincides with the tenth anniversary of their first US tour.
