In less than a week Kyary Pamyu Pamyu will make her return to America and one of those stops is in San Francisco. The last time she was here I missed out (a scheduling conflict involving ye olde San Diego Comic Con) but this time there's nothing to keep me from seeing this show.

For those of you unfamiliar with Kyary she's a fashion icon and musician known for her whimsical style and can be described as cuteness overload. She has a special quality to her that cannot be aptly described and is best experienced to gain an understanding of what Kyary is. Her music will have you unconsciously tapping your feet and nodding your head in tune to it.

The tour is titled "THE SPOOKY OBAKEYASHIKI ~PUMPKINS STRIKE BACK~" and is inspired by Japanese haunted houses. The traditional Japanese ghost ("obake") is the name of the game and promo images feature a wasa-obake (umbrella ghost) and a many tailed fox amongst others. Kyary being Kyary almost guarantees you a fun night that will not disappoint and photos from her Japanese concerts of this same tour show off an elaborate two-tier stage with a lot of stage effects and even some acrobatics. For a lot of bands it is a challenge to bring their full emsemble overseas but when I saw her in 2014 she brought a detailed set on tour so it's possible we might see that happen again although somewhat stripped down in size for convenience.

Expect to see many of her hit songs like Fashion Monster and Pon Pon Pon along with ones like "Crazy Party Night" and "Harajuku Iyahoi." Hopefully we'll be treated to a performance of her newest song "Kimi no Mikata" which was released in April.

The US tour is comprised of three stops in New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. The San Francisco stop is at the Regency Ballroom where she played both of the previous times she was here and is presented by Goldenvoice.

6/18 New York, NY - Playstation Theater (tickets available here)
6/20 San Francisco, CA - The Regency Ballroom (tickets available here)
6/22 Los Angeles, CA - Fonda Theater (tickets available here)

With any luck we'll be able to give you a full rundown of the night next week and with photos to boot.
