This year’s Crunchyroll Expo (September 1-3, San Jose Convention Center) is right around the corner and they’ve got some pretty good looking guests and events as is befitting one of the major names in English anime streaming and production.  They've even gone as far as being the principal driving force behind a few series.  Read on for some of the things we think are must-sees at the upcoming CRX:

Ryo Horikawa hosts the Dragon Ball Super Finale: What better way to spend an hour or two than with the Saiyan crown prince?  They’re holding this in one of the big rooms so there should be plenty of space for you and all your friends.  Dragon Ball hasn’t missed its stride in all the decades it’s been around and if anything it’s even more hype than before.

Battle Angel Alita: Director Robert Rodriguez, producer Jon Landau, and Rosa Salazar will be on deck for a panel.  Battle Angel comes out later this year and this is a great chance to learn about the movie adaptation.  I’ve been a big fan of Battle Angel Alita/Gunnm for more than a decade and you’re doing yourself a disservice if you’ve never looked into it.

RErideD: Yoshitoshi ABe’s (Serial Experiments Lain) latest project premieres at CRX.  Producer Rie Ogura and Yoshitoshi ABe himself will be on hand at the con too!  As a sci-fi story directed by Takuya Sato (Stein;s Gate) it is definitely an anime to keep an eye on.

DOUBLE DECKER Premiere: if you liked Tiger & Bunny’s designs then this will probably wet your whistle.  Detectives Doug and Kirill are featured in what is billed as a buddy cop series that is helmed by many of the same staff that brought Tiger & Bunny to popularity.

The Rising of the Shield Hero premiere: This light novel and manga series, now in animated form, will premiere at CRX.  It is one of the most popular isekai in Japan for a reason.  Like a lot of other isekais it involves a fantasy world in trouble who then summon some heroes from another world (ours).  It’s not as cut-and-dry as it seems as protagonist Naofumi soon learns…

Darling in the Franxx guests: Atsushi Nishigori, Masayoshi Tanaka, Yuichi Fukushima, of Studio Trigger’s hit anime Darling in the Franxx, are attending CRX.  Get a glimpse of their thought processes when it comes to Franxx and maybe an autograph or two.

This is a really small selection of guests and events.  There’s plenty more and you can check out the whole list at https://crunchyrollexpo.com/guests/

Crunchyroll Expo 2018 will be held at the San Jose Convention Center on Labor Day Weekend, September 1-3.
