Love Live is nothing new to Anime Expo. Aquors has graced the stage here multiple times, with the most recent being in 2019. No one could have predicted a multi-year break, but here we are.  Time to get back up to speed.

On 11/26/20, Lantis and Purple One Star teamed up to help expose the world to some of their newest artists via the New Generation LIVE.  A few are actually veterans but with a new presentation.  Kanako Takatsuki (Love Live! Sunshine!!), Marina Horiuchi (Sakura Gakuin), and Ai Furihata (Love Live! Sunshine!!) were some of those. If you had heard of them you were probably watching specifically to see them.  You can count the others as a bonus if you'd like but they are much more than that.  They are all part of the new generation of anisong talent and this is one of the best ways they could have performed.  Getting people to see a new artist's concert can be difficult at the best of times and right now is downright impossible.  A stream?  Perfect.

On July 4th a select group of press outlets were allowed to spend a bit of time with three of Aqours' members. One member from the first, second, and third years was present at the press conference. Representing each respective year was Kanako Takatsuki, voice of Hanamaru Kunikida, Anju Inami, voice of Chika Takami, and Aina Suzuki, voice of Mari Ohara. Anime Expo 2019 may not have had as many concerts as years past but what it did have was quality. Love Live's Aqours played to two sold-out crowds at The Novo on July 5th and 6th. The performances, titled "BRAND NEW WAVE," would leave concertgoers with memories for years to come and build upon Aqours' legacy in Los Angeles.

Aquors Takes Anime Expo by Storm

Wow. What a hell of a way to start Anime Expo 2018.

The Aquors concert on Day 0 was truly a once in a lifetime event that will likely never be replicated. If you've been living under a rock, Aquors is the hyper-popular group at the central focus of Love Live: Sunshine. This is the first time that Aquors and Love Live as a whole, has held a full, one man, overseas concert. For a lot of people, this was THE event to see at Anime Expo and I'd be hard-pressed to disagree. Anisong World Matsuri has quickly become a cornerstone event of Anime Expo and it is hard to imagine an AX without one.

Love Live Sunshine at Anime Expo!

Anime Expo 2016 had yet another US first to its name. The super-franchise Love Live has, til now, never graced American shores to a meaningful degree. July 2 would mark the date that six of the nine members of Aquors (pronounced "aqua") walked the stage and said hello, in person, to America.
