The Prinny game to put it simply is a platformer reminiscent of games such as Metal Slug. The game proved to be much more difficult as it progressed when we got to a boss fight with two enemies. One of the enemy casts out a green projectile while the other appears to casts some sort of fire tornado. Out of the numerous editors and writer for various gaming related publications, only one of the bosses was defeated. Jumping in the game felt a little awkward as the Prinny is unable to change directions in midair, he can only change directions once by performing a double jump. We’ll have more details about the game soon in our full review.

We also got some hands on time with the localized version of the RPG Ar tonelico 2. We fought a few battles with combat reminding me vaguely of Valkyrie Profile with a twist. Each party member attacks and defense are bound to specific button on the controller. Players are able to block and minimalize damage with a perfectly timed button press similar to Gears of War’s reloading scheme. Again, we will also have a full review of this game soon.

After a bit of testing, NIS America played new trailers for Ar tonelico II, the Prinny game, and the Playstation Portable port of Mana Khemia. At the end, they brought out a Prinny that we met last time at Anime Expo 2008 in Los Angeles. I suggested to the Prinny that he/she/it should probably join us in a round of drinks for old time sakes.

Prinny: Can I Really Be th Hero? will be released on February 17, 2009, Ar tonelico II on January 20, 2009, and Mana Khemia in January 2009.
