FFXIII: Lightning Returns Trailers and Screenshots

Square-Enix has finally officially released 2 trailers as well as additional new screenshots on Friday for the upcoming 3rd game to the Final Fantasy XIII series, Lighting Returns. The trailer was prematurely released by various media outlets earlier this week.

Observant fans will can't help but notice the cityscape of Luxerion, the apparently new platforming elements, and Lightning's new red and white cloak are relatively reminiscent of Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed.

Some of the background buildings and details of Luxerion as a whole appears to be lacking in depth and looks relatively dated compared to more recent video game titles. As to what purpose the platforming will actually serve in the game aren't entirely made clear in the trailer, we'll just have to find out when Square-Enix releases more information.

Daisuke Kishio Interview Video

We got some great interviews during Anime Expo this year but it was completely unexpected that we got to do an impromptu interview with voice actor Daisuke Kishio! He is probably best known for his roles as Van Flyheight from Zoids, Kaname Kuran from Vampire Knight, Souichi Negishi from Detroit Metal City and Noel Kreiss from Final Fantasy XIII-2!

Duodecim Shots Emerge

Screenshots of Dissidia 012 Duodecim Final Fantasy have been posted up. In addition, the game will appear in playable form at Tokyo Game Show this year, so some gameplay details will hopefully emerge. Screenshots seem to show little graphical differences from Dissidia Final Fantasy, perhaps attesting to that the Playstation Portable may be at its limits. From the screenshot, however, we can tell that Lightning's Limit Break in this game will be reminiscent of the Gestalt system in Final Fantasy XIII. For more information, visit the official site, which only has a teaser at the moment but will likely get updated after Tokyo Game Show. Screenshots after the jump.

More Dissidia in 2011

A sequel to Square-Enix’s 2009 fighter Dissidia Final Fantasy will be coming in 2011. The sequel’s name will be Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy and will feature Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII and Kain from Final Fantasy IV. Not much else is known at the moment. Unfortunately, there was no exact release date announced and, seeing as this was the first we’ve heard of the game, it probably will not be ready until at least summer 2011. More info as it’s released.

UPDATE: Game title is Dissidia 012 Duodecim Final Fantasy.

Prepare for endless grinding on the go with Final Fantasy Legends: Hikari to Yami no Senshi (Warriors of Light and Darkness), set to be released September 6. The game will arrive on Japanese mobile phones that are supported by Square-Enix. Final Fantasy XIV Release Details

Shown off at E3, Final Fantasy XIV will be released on September 30, 2010. For those who want to get in on the beta, the PC collector's edition will offer beta keys starting early July. While the beta is a nice treat for fans who will buy the collector's edition, it seems like they won't get much time with it before the game comes out. It's also a shame that the standard version won't include a beta; it would have really hyped up the game for players who did not play Final Fantasy XI or did not want to drop almost 80 dollars on a game. Hit the jump for system requirements for PC players, new features, and exclusive collector's edition contents.

Dissidia: Final Fantasy Review

Dissidia: Final Fantasy is a new PSP fighting game developed by Square Enix, featuring characters from the original Final Fantasy to Final Fantasy XI. Having developed fighting games in the past like Ehrgeiz and Tobal, Square Enix is no newcomer to fighting games, but how well would it fare after such a long hiatus?
