May'n Rhythm Tank!! BD Review

The indoor arena, Nippon Budokan, is one of the most famous venues at which a musician can perform in Japan, and pop singer May'n has performed there solo -- twice. Her second concert was held on March 6, 2011 with a home release on Blu-ray titled May'n Special Concert BD RHYTHM TANK!! at Nippon Budokan on November 2nd the same year.

May'n New Album and World Tour Announcement

Enews maynarlier this week, the official homepage for Japanese singer May'n announced she will be releasing her third full album titled Heat on March 21, 2012. The album will include the song "Scarlet Ballet" which was used as the OP (opening theme song) for the anime adaptation of Aria the Scarlet Ammo (Hidan no Aria), "Brain Diver" used in anime Phi Brain: Puzzle of God and a new song, "Heat of the Moment".

Her site also announced that she will be going on a world tour later this year titled "Rock Your Beats" though no countries have been specified yet. We will update as more information is released.

May'n made her first American performance back in 2010 at Anime Expo held in Los Angeles.

Animelo Summer Live 2010 Videos

One of the world's largest annual anime themed concerts, Animelo Summer Live happened last week. The first day of the concert was broadcasted live on the popular Japanese video site, Nico Nico Douga. For people who missed the live stream, various clips have appeared online and we have included some inside. We will continue to update this post as we find more. Animelo Summer Live gathers some of the most popular anime related singers together with an attendance record of 50,000 people in 2009.

May'n Anime Expo '10 Panel

After opening ceremonies on the first day of Anime Expo 2010, pop singer May Nakabayashi, known by her stage name as May'n, took questions from her American fans. May'n is best known for her debut work as the singing vocals for Sheryl Nome in Macross Frontier. See her answers in our transcription of her panel.

May'n Interview @ AX 2010

Japanese pop star May Nakabayashi (May'n) who's probably best known as the vocal for Sheryl Nome from the anime series Macross Frontier, was in attendance at Anime Expo 2010 in Los Angeles to meet her fans as well as for a live concert performance. Having only briefly chatted with May'n previously at Animelo Summer Live 2009 in Japan, we conducted a followup interview a couple days before her American performance.

May'n & Nakajima Press Conference

In 2008, Macross Frontier shook the anime community with it's action packed mecha action and muscial performances. The show's lead singers, May'n (May Nakabayashi) and Megumi Nakajima rose to stardom touring Japan leading to a grand finale at the prestigous Budokan Arena. Almost a year and a half later, both singers were invited to perform live at Anime Expo 2010 in Los Angeles. See what both singers had to say about their experience and performance in front of their American fans in our full press conference transcription.

Animelo Summer Live 2009 Report

August is typically a packed month for otakus in Japan with the largest doujinshi convention, Comic Market and hobby event Wonder Festival held merely weeks apart. What some fans may not realize is that one of the largest anime-themed concert in the world, Animelo Summer Live (AniSama), is held the same month. This year marked AniSama's fifth anniversary titled "RE:BRIDGE," and was held on August 22 and August 23 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. An all star line up of singers, voice actors, and idols numbering 37 artists performed including Halko Momoi, JAM Project, Mamoru Miyano, May'n, Minori Chihara, Aya Hirano, Nana Mizuki, and special guests Shoko Nakagawa and GACKT entertained over 50,000 excited fans.

May'n (中林 芽依) Backstage Chat @ Animelo 2009

May Nakabayashi, best known as May'n on stage, made her major break in 2008 as the singing voice of Sheryl Nome from Macross Frontier. May'n returned to perform at this year's Animelo Summer Live, one of the largest anime themed concert, on August 22, 2009. Unfortunately due to scheduling issues, we were unable to arrange for a full interview. We were able to get a quick photoshoot and a few questions in briefly with her.
