During this year's Anime Expo, UNIVRS animation director Junichi Yamamoto told us with his new Kickstarter campaign for Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing, there were a lot of challenges involved to make sure that the game was still fun and intuitive on a VR device. We sat down with Junichi Yamamoto to talk about his involvement with the direction of the project. Read on for the full interview!

Little Witch Academia backers are rejoicing around the world as Studio Trigger in partnership with Goodsmile Company has started shipping out backer rewards. While some of you are waiting for your packages or are curious what the final contents are, let's take a very brief look at some of the goodies from the highest tiers of the Kickstarter and see if Trigger delivered on their promises.

For those of us who haven't forgotten that believing in our hearts is magic, Studio TRIGGER's announcement that the highly coveted Collector's Edition of Little Witch Academia is now available from TRIGGER's global online shop. The collector's edition includes a Blu-ray disc that features the twenty-six minute episode that started it all, the sixty-six minute making-of-video entitled, "How the Magic Was Born," an original soundtrack and a 112-page art book filled with storyboards, sketches, character art and other high-quality illustrations.

Over the weekend in response to the overwhelming success of the Little Witch Academia 2 Kickstarter campaign, the president of Animation Studio TRIGGER, Masahiko Otsuka was overjoyed by the support the fans and released a statement:

“The pledged amount was well over what we expected, and we cannot thank everyone enough who supported the Little Witch Academia 2 project on Kickstarter. At the same time, we definitely feel the pressure because we have to respond to this new challenge with our title. We’ve received the baton from our fans. We are ready to run as fast as we can, baton in hand!”

The original Kickstarter goal was $150,000 but raised over $625,000 with over 7,938 backers. Little Witch Academia 2 is estimated to enter the production phase in 2014. Full press release inside.

Studio TRIGGER, fresh on the heels of their uber magical Kickstarter Little Witch Academia 2 campaign, has announced, in collaboration with acttil, they will begin taking pre-orders for the Collector's Edition of Little Witch Academia worldwide beginning August 13th at TRIGGER's Online Store.

As one of the Guests of Honor at Anime Expo 2013, the illustrious voice actress Megumi Han left her adoring fans with what could only be described as a memorable experience. Having been featured in many awe-inspiring roles at such a young age, including Gon Freeces in Hunter x Hunter 2011 and the young teenage witch Akko in Little Witch Academia, Ms. Han has managed to build up quite a resume in a short amount of time. For fans of Studio TRIGGER's Little Witch Academia, Anime Expo 2013 was something magical. From the guest appearance of Akko's famed voiced actress, Megumi Han, the announcement of the Little Witch Academia 2 Kickstarter campaign, and the presence of Akko and Shiny Chariot cosplayers casting their spells on other attendees, it was a wonderful time all around for fans of Yoh Yoshinari and Masahiko Otsuka's animated feature. On Day 3, fans were treated to a special Little Witch Academia Fan Event hosted by Acttil and Studio TRIGGER at the JW Marriott in Los Angeles.

Yesterday, acttil announced their first official project yesterday with news of an upcoming collaboration with TRIGGER to release the Collector's Edition release of Little Witch Academia on Blu-ray this summer. The Collector's Edition will come with one Blu-ray disc, an original soundtrack, and a 112-page art book. TRIGGER will be publishing the disc while acttil handles PR and marketing.
