Ring Out S.F. SOULCALIBUR VI Preview Event

There's a number of unassuming brick buildings in the industrial areas of San Francisco. One happens to sit right down the street from the UPS hub that serves the entire city. What makes this one special is that it is the home of Venue 550, an event and party venue equipped with an array of cameras, projectors, streaming infrastructure, and one heck of a sound system.

During E3, I got the chance to play a whole mission from Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown at the Bandai Namco booth, so I took to the skies and tested the controls. First off, you could play in advance mode or normal, which was for the first timers to the game. The main difference in advance mode is that the player has more controls to worry about, such as in tilt, acceleration, and targeting, vs normal, which the AI helps you in controlling the plane and lock-on targets. The level started with the standard mission briefing screen where I got the details of the mission and a view of the 3D map. The map seems more detailed than in previous games and feels like you are getting more information because of this. During the mission, you have your three views: outer view, cockpit view, and HUD view [1st person view]. The cockpit view looks more detailed than previous games.

We got to experience PAX West for the first time, and I have to say I’m impressed by everyone attending and exhibiting. Everything about the show is all for the passion of gaming. From consoles to PC to tabletop, PAX has it all.

God Eater: Resurrection (PS4) Review

God Eater: Resurrection is an action role-playing game, delivered by Director and Producer Hiroshi Yoshimura and Yosuke Tomizawa, it takes inspiration from like minded games in the genre – think Monster Hunter or Freedom Wars – but it also does some unique things that help keep it fresh. While it can occasionally bog down in sheer repetition and the rampant overuse of monsters and maps, there’s something inherently and undeniably addicting about God Eater: Resurrection.
