Yuu Asakawa is a seasoned veteran who has played in various legendary titles including Love Hina as Motoko Aoyama, Azumanga Daioh as Sakaki, Fate/stay night as Rider, Akame ga Kill! as Leone and we cannot forget she also voiced as Megurine Luka from Vocaloid. What sets her apart from other voice actresses is her embracing the English language which allows her to interact with her English speaking fans. Although we missed her at Anime Expo back in 2010, we were lucky enough sit down with her at Anime on Display and chat a little about her freelance voice acting work.
For July 4th Club Nokia plays host to both Wagakki Band and their opening act in the form of the Vocaloid IA. This happens to be the first stateside show for both. The two acts are part of the twenty-fourth iteration of Anime Expo in a mini-event dubbed the "Cool Japan Festival." They couldn't have picked a better stage to debut on in the United States. Out of all the concerts and events at AX this one was what I was looking forward to the most.
As part of the birthday celebration of the highly popular Vocaloid Hatsune Miku, the Vocaloid 3 Korean Mascot was revealed ealier this week. Banking on the ever popular moe style, SeeU is a cat girl illustrated by Kkuem that just oozes adorableness. I know a lot of people love Hatsune Miku, but the cat ears and flowing hair won me over at a glance. She's voiced by Kim Tahi (Dahee), a super cute singer part of the up and coming K-pop group GLAM which has yet to debut.
The internet sensation Hatsune Miku is well known around the world. Originally a musical voice synthesizer program named Vocaloid 2, fans have created a whole subculture of music, artworks, and even a 3D live stage concert. See what the creative team, Crypton Future Media's CEO Hiroyuki Itoh and Producer Wataru Sasaki had to say in our brief interview as we caught them at the end of day!
Viz Cinema will be showing the recently released Miku's Day DVD / Blu-ray as Miku Hatsune LIVE! on September 18, 2010 as part of the J-Pop Summit Festival in Japantown, San Francisco.
Miku's performances have only been viewable in Japan, and its overwhelming popularity has led to an online petition for an international tour. Initially, the early performances were simple projections on screen as seen at Animelo Summer Live 2009. The later performances, including Miku's Day, were done on a transparent screen with multiple projectors which made Miku Hatsune appear to be a holographic 3D projection.
Tickets will cost $20, and all audiences apparently will receive a Miku premium poster. Copies of the concert on Blu-ray will also be available for purchase. For more information, head over to New People's page on the event description.
