This year is the 25th Anniversary of Atlus' Persona franchise. Like a lot of people, I really got into Persona with Persona 3. And, like a lot of people, I then fell down the Shin Megami Tensei hole. Devil Survivor, Devil Summoner, SMT Nocturne, you name it, I played it. Didn't finish all of them, but it was a fun ride. A lot of people only know Persona 3, 4, and 5, but that's entirely okay. There's enough to go around for everyone.

Atlus has a lot of things planned for the 25th Anniversary in both America and Japan. Naturally, they are bringing out some goodies for the biggest anime convention in North America, Anime Expo.

For fans of video game JRPG series Persona, Shoji Meguro's evocative compositions have always played a key role in accentuating the immersive environments found in the Shin Megami Tensei, Catherine and Trauama Center video game series. Most recently, his popularity has skyrocketed thanks to in part to his Persona 3 and Persona 4 soundtracks featuring the vocals of Shihoko Hirata, Lotus Juice and Yumi Kawamura.

With three different interations of the game already released, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3  has landed on Japanese cell phones as Persona 3 Social. The game marks the series' first multiplayer title, bringing a whole new dimension of gameplay. Using the Mobage-town, which is a Japanese social network service for mobile phones, players can accomplish various quest, defeat evil shadows, and of course, collect personas.

While the game will be free to play, Atlus will support the game's network with the inclusion of various micro transactions, such as purchasing in-game items; no further information has been released. Players can probably expect to see special weapons or personas for sale. Although the game is not likely to be released in the United States, fans can still pray.
