Amano is a name that I think everyone knows from his work on Final Fantasy, Vampire Hunter D, and many others. He's compiled quite the collection over the past five decades. Now, in a bit of digital wizardry, we get a virtual museum dedicated to his works. Artists painstakingly convert his 2D art into 3D. This takes a bit more work than you might expect as going from 2D to 3D requires having to model for depth and create the sides of those previously unseen things. Art will be converted in reliefs, 3D murals, sculptures, and more. Having work be in 3D allows for animation and motion to give that extra bit of life to Amano's work.

Final Fantasy Distant Worlds/New World @ Otakon 2018

Distant Worlds and A New World performances are familiar names in the world of video games, and this year at Otakon 2018, they were the main musical performances. This year, we had the privilege to witness both of these performances in one weekend, led by Grammy Award Winner Arnie Roth and his son Eric Roth for their respective concerts. Not only that, they were accompanied by legendary composer Nobuo Uematsu and performed many outstanding scores from the Final Fantasy series on Friday and Sunday afternoon.

Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival: Impression

Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2016 in Las Vegas came and gone and probably will not return until a year after the next expansion. This year at Fan Festival, the biggest announcement that all FFXIV fans have been waiting for was the official announcement of the next expansion – Stormblood. This was announced on the very first day of the festival and was followed by a teaser trailer showcasing a mysterious blonde female in a red dress. Almost immediately, social media and FFXIV sub-Reddit exploded with speculations of who this mysterious female could be and what the new job will be. The opening keynote was of course presented by the director and producer of FFXIV, Naoki Yoshida, with on stage translations by Christopher Koji Fox. There was no official announcement of what the new battle jobs will be, but in typical Naoki Yoshida fashion, he wore a shirt that hinted what one of the jobs may be. The presentation lasted an hour and was followed by the Development Panel featuring Masaki Nakagawa on the main stage. During this panel, Masaki Nakagawa talked about the battle development for one of the newer 24 man raids that he worked on.

Having never played much of FFXII, I can’t really make a direct comparison. I can, however, talk about the things I saw and the gameplay I experienced at PAX West this year. I was lucky enough to be part of a two hour session with the folks at Square Enix for a hands-on experience with Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, a HD remake of the 2006 original that was announced earlier this year at E3.

While everyone else was talking about the new Final Fantasy XV trailers, movie, and anime, I was more interested what was revealed during the preshow event last night during Final Fantasy XV Uncovered in Los Angeles. After a little digging, you can now preorder clothing worn by Noctis and Prompto online. Roen was revealed originally in 2008 to be designing the outfits for the game so these are not simply cosplay outfits but functional everyday clothing.

The Gold Saucer Returns! (Final Fantasy XIV)

Final Fantasy fans rejoice! In the upcoming update to the MMO Final Fantasy XIV, Square-Enix has released a new patch trailer that features the Gold Saucer's triumph return as the Manderville Gold Saucer. Built around a Cactuar, the building itself resembles the original Gold Saucer from Final Fantasy VII and the theme song can be heard through the venue in game. In addition to some new mini games, some of the fan favorites make a return including Chocobo racing, UFO catcher, and basketball. As an added bonus, the addicting card game found in Final Fantasy VIII, Triple Triad, also makes a return with updated rules and revamped interface.

Players should start stockpiling their Gil as the Gold Saucer is set to open in patch 2.51 in late February.

Make sure to check out the trailer for yourself inside!

One of the most popular Japanese MMO held a festival for about 2000 fans in Las Vegas. Filled with jaw dropping cosplays, lots of sneak peeks for upcoming releases, and of course gambling and alcohol, check out a recap of my three day adventure at the Rio Hotel.

Please note, there will be a mixture of photos from my camera and phone so the quality may vary.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 Live Painting and Auction

Art Director Yusuke Naora and Producer Yoshinori Kitase were present at the opening of THE ART OF FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 charity exhibition held at Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, California on March 16, 2014.

Naora did a special live digital painting of Yuna and Tidus from the game which you can view below. The original file was deleted intentionally (what a shame!) after it was printed and signed and is currently available for auction at $3500 USD as of this article. Along with the painting, other items are also available including signed concept art pieces, signed giclee prints, and original sketches by some of the production team such as Character Designer Tetsuya Nomura.

Proceeds for the auctions will go towards the Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts. You have until March 26, 2014 at 11PM PDT to bid.
With a lot of Final Fantasy X fans out there, bidding are expected to be fierce.

You can head over to the auction page here or check out the photos of the opening of the exhibition here.
