Massively multiplayer online RPG (MMORPG) Final Fantasy XIV will include a fatigue system that will prevent players from gaming into the long hours of the night. This new system will force players to play for a shorter period of time, allowing casual players to be on par with hardcore gamers. It will provide full experience for only eight hours a week. Once the eight hours are done, the amount of experience gained will decrease over seven hours. After that, the player will not gain any additional experience. The idea of playing an MMORPG for only eight hours a week may turn fans away from Final Fantasy XIV.

Be a Yakuza Ice Cream and Sushi Chef

Upcoming Yakuza Playstation Portable spinoff Kurohyou: Ryu ga Gotoku Shinsho will feature nightlife minigames, which include games like UFO catchers or part time jobs. These were common in the series, but part time jobs seem to be a new feature. The part time job minigames will consist of button commands, which will effectively make these a series of rhythm games. Apparently, these will also fund the players’ nightlife activities, meaning they can’t just slack off and go to the karaoke or massage parlor all the time. List of activities and screenshots after the jump.

Twinkle Queen, the new Milestone crossover fighter featuring characters from various visual novels, will incorporate elements from many other established fighting games. The game will be a 2-on-2 fighter, allowing players to switch out characters throughout fights, including while being hit, blocking, or during a combo. While attacking, players will also be able to tap forward twice to dash out of an attack animation and continue a combo. The most risky gameplay feature lets players tap forward in order to cancel out an incoming attack and counterattack immediately. More after the jump.

Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai or My Little Sister Can't be This Cute is making its way from the pages of a light novel to the Playstation Portable as a visual novel. It will use a special new visual technology called Live2D that will make interacting with different characters a new and interesting experience.

Namco Bandai has just released new details on the fan service-filled experience, Tales of World Radiant Mythology 3 for the Playstation Portable (PSP). Players will have the opportunity to play with over 80 characters from across the entire Tales Series, which is sure to make Tales fans salivate endlessly.

Try Out Vanquish in Two Weeks

Shinji Mikami, director of upcoming fast-paced action title Vanquish, has announced a playable demo of the game to be released online September 2. Apparently, the demo will be different from the one at Tokyo Game Show and include more difficulty settings than the one we tried at E3. Players should definitely give the game a try, considering Mikami’s pedigree with previous titles like the Resident Evil series and Bayonetta. No word yet on a demo for the American Playstation Network or Xbox LIVE Marketplace, but there was one for Bayonetta so fans should sit tight. The game is currently set to be released on October 19 in the US. Screenshots and trailer after the jump.

Fall Anime List 2010

Written by

Another season of new anime titles is almost here, and there is definitely a little something for everyone. Arakawa Under the Bridge, To Love-Ru, Super Robot Taisen, A Certain Magical  Index, and Sora no Otoshimono return with sequels which should please many prexisting fans. Bakuman and The World Only God Knows are already popular manga titles and will probably do pretty well, but will Gainax's new Panty & Stocking be as successful as the companies previous hit titles? We'll find out this October.

Prepare for endless grinding on the go with Final Fantasy Legends: Hikari to Yami no Senshi (Warriors of Light and Darkness), set to be released September 6. The game will arrive on Japanese mobile phones that are supported by Square-Enix. Not to be confused with the Final Fantasy Legend series on the Gameboy from the 90's, Warriors of Light and Darkness is an all-new 32-bit adventure.
